A Filipino police officer is now facing a storm of serious allegations after being arrested over multiple sexual assault charges allegedly committed while on duty.
Christopher John Oallesma, 26, a five-year member of the Honolulu Police Department, was taken into custody on April 28 after a Hawaii grand jury indicted him on eight counts of sexual assault. He is also facing charges of official misconduct, obstruction of justice, and use of a computer in the commission of a crime.
Authorities said the case traces back to a traffic stop in Waikiki on April 6, 2026. Oallesma allegedly pulled over a woman before later tracking her down to her hotel, where he is accused of forcing her into sexual acts while still in uniform.
Investigators added that the officer allegedly threatened the victim and attempted to tamper with evidence using a computer.
The case has sparked outrage, coming during the observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
Following his arrest, Oallesma was immediately stripped of his police powers as the Honolulu Police Department launched an internal probe.
Despite the gravity of the charges, the officer was released after posting $150,000 bail.
Oallesma is set to appear in court this Monday in Hawaii. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
