Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray issued a powerful call for accountability as she stood before thousands of protesters during the “Trillion Peso March” at the EDSA People Power Monument on Sunday, urging the government to act swiftly on the widening flood control scandal that has rocked the nation.

Gray, who has consistently used her platform to champion social issues, appealed directly to the Office of the Ombudsman, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. She demanded immediate action on allegations of massive corruption involving billions of pesos in public works funds.

“We demand action. To the Ombudsman, file the cases now. To the senators, suspend the senators implicated, and to Congress, pass the anti-political dynasty bill,” she declared, her voice rising over the crowd of frustrated citizens calling for justice.

The beauty queen, known for her advocacy and public service work, also led a solemn prayer one that called for justice, truth, courage for the Filipino people, and leaders who embody genuine compassion.

“Give us leaders with heart and true compassion,” she said, drawing applause from the demonstrators gathered at the historic monument now a symbol not only of democracy but also of public outrage over corruption.

Gray emphasized that Filipinos refuse to let this controversy fade without accountability. She challenged the long-standing notion that the Filipino public easily forgets political wrongdoing.

“They say Filipinos have a short memory, that it’s easy for us to forget and forgive,” she said. “But believe us when we say that we will not forget what you did, and no one will move on until someone is held accountable!”

Her remarks were met with cheers and chants from protesters demanding an end to systemic corruption. Many carried placards denouncing the alleged misuse of flood control funds money that should have been spent on disaster mitigation and public safety but was reportedly diverted through questionable allocations.

Gray ended her message with a rallying cry aimed at the country's younger generation, whose presence formed a significant portion of the crowd.

“We are the generation that will not let corruption win,” she declared, reinforcing growing public sentiment that citizens especially the youth are no longer willing to tolerate impunity.

Her participation in the rally added star power and amplified calls for transparency and accountability as the government faces increasing pressure to act decisively on the expanding scandal.
