Paracale, Cam Norte — What was supposed to be a day of profit turned into a night behind bars for a 37-year-old fish dealer after cops caught him red-handed with 80 kilos of dynamite-caught fish!
Alias “Nolan,” resident of Brgy. Poblacion Norte, was cornered in a joint operation by the Paracale Municipal Police Station (MPS), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Camarines Norte, and Camarines Norte Enforcement and Rescue Unit (CNERU) around 3:30 p.m., August 20, 2025.
Authorities revealed that the seized haul—worth thousands of pesos—tested positive for traces of blast fishing or “bigas-bigas.” Nolan now faces charges under Republic Act 10654, a law that cracks down hard on illegal fishing.
The suspect was read his rights before being hauled off to Paracale MPS detention. Meanwhile, the confiscated fish were turned over to CNERU, with plans to distribute them to charitable institutions.

Paracale’s top cop, PMAJ Arkhemedes C. Garcia, minced no words:
“We strongly condemn the use of dynamite in fishing. It destroys our seas, kills marine life, and robs fishermen of their livelihood. Rest assured, the Paracale PNP will continue to crack down on these illegal activities. We urge the public to report suspicious acts in their communities.”
The bust serves as a loud warning to illegal fishers: blast the seas, and you’ll end up blasting your freedom away!
