Filipinos Trust Detained Former President Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte More Than President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte

In a survey conducted by Pulse Asia Research from May 6 to 9, 2025, former President Duterte received a 63% trust rating, while Vice President Sara Duterte came in second with 50%.

Meanwhile, President Marcos Jr. recorded a trust rating of only 32%—lower than both Dutertes—and had the highest distrust rating at 42%.

In the National Capital Region, Duterte garnered a 57% trust rating, while both Marcos and Vice President Sara received 42%.

Even in Balance Luzon, Duterte led with 46%, slightly ahead of Marcos at 41%, while Vice President Sara trailed behind with only 29%.

However, in Mindanao, both Duterte and Vice President Sara received a staggering 97% trust rating, while Marcos received only 3%.

Compared to the April survey, Duterte's trust rating dropped by 1% (from 64% to 63%), while Vice President Sara's fell by 7%, and President Marcos saw a 3% increase.

Former President Duterte is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands, over charges of crimes against humanity filed at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

His arrest at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on March 11 is believed to be a major reason why many candidates allied with the Marcos administration lost in the May 12 elections.
