The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to begin the proclamation of the 12 newly elected senators on Saturday, May 17, according to Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia.
In a press briefing held Tuesday, May 13, Garcia confirmed that preparations are underway for the official proclamation, which will take place at the Manila Hotel Tent City.
The proclamation ceremony will mark the formal announcement of the winning candidates who will serve in the Philippine Senate for the next six years.
As of the latest partial and unofficial results released by the Comelec, former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go is leading the senatorial race. He is followed closely by former Senator Bam Aquino and incumbent Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
The Comelec continues to canvass remaining election returns to finalize the official results. Despite minor technical issues reported in some areas, the poll body assured the public that the electoral process remains transparent and credible.
Further updates are expected in the coming days as the Comelec completes the canvassing and finalizes the list of winning candidates.
