California-bound woman, 76, nabbed at NAIA over 6 Sandiganbayan warrants

A 76-year-old woman bound for California was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport after authorities discovered that she was facing six alias warrants issued by the Sandiganbayan.
The elderly passenger was stopped at NAIA Terminal 1 in Pasay City on Saturday, October 3, while preparing to fly to the United States.
Immigration officers reportedly flagged her record because of an Alert List Order and immediately coordinated with the PNP Aviation Security Group.
The Sandiganbayan Second Division had issued warrants against her for two counts of graft, two counts of malversation of public funds, and two counts of falsification by a public officer.
Her total recommended bail was reportedly set at P282,000.
The woman told authorities that she had legally changed her name and claimed that some of the other names appearing in the warrants belonged to her siblings.
She also reportedly insisted that she did not know she had outstanding warrants.
The passenger was set to be brought before the Sandiganbayan Second Division in Quezon City for proper disposition.
Her identity has not been publicly released.
