Albuera, Leyte — What was supposed to be an ordinary night in a quiet village in Leyte turned into a scene of pure horror as two innocent children were butchered by their mother’s live-in partner — all while they slept peacefully inside their home.
The gruesome crime happened in Sitio Cayag-ang, Barangay San Pedro, Albuera, Leyte, on the night of June 10. Witnesses said a heated argument erupted between the children’s mother and her live-in partner inside their modest home. But no one could have predicted the unspeakable violence that would follow.
In the middle of the shouting match, the suspect — blinded by rage — allegedly grabbed a deadly weapon and, without mercy, hacked the two sleeping children as their terrified mother watched helplessly.
Neighbors heard the screams but arrived too late. Blood was everywhere. The children, both minors, suffered multiple hack wounds.
The young girl, just four years old, was rushed to a hospital in Ormoc City but was declared dead on arrival. Her sibling, clinging to life, succumbed to injuries shortly after while doctors tried desperately to save them.
Their mother, badly wounded and drenched in her children’s blood, survived the ordeal and is now recovering in the hospital, physically broken and emotionally shattered.
Meanwhile, the heartless suspect fled into the night, leaving behind a trail of blood, broken dreams, and a grieving community.
Police have launched an all-out manhunt to bring the killer to justice. Angry residents are demanding swift action, saying the children deserve justice for the cruelty they suffered at the hands of someone they once called “uncle.”
“This is beyond evil. Those kids didn’t deserve this. We will not stop until that monster is caught,” a neighbor said, visibly shaken by the brutality of the crime.
As of press time, authorities have yet to locate the suspect, but vowed to hunt him down and make him pay for the cold-blooded murder of two innocent angels.
The community of Albuera is now united in grief, anger, and a desperate cry for justice.
