Another American national has been killed in the Philippines, just days after a separate fatal attack on a U.S. citizen in Rizal Province.

Police said a 73-year-old American was shot dead after three armed men allegedly forced their way into his home in Barangay Ajong, Sibulan, Negros Oriental, at around 11:30 p.m. on July 12.

The victim and his 34-year-old Filipino companion were reportedly watching television when the suspects entered the residence. Investigators said one of the gunmen shot the American in the head, killing him at the scene. His companion was wounded and is undergoing medical treatment and forensic examination.

The killing came only days after another American national was fatally shot during a robbery in Teresa, Rizal, where police said motorcycle-riding robbers attacked the victim in broad daylight.

Authorities have not indicated that the two incidents are related.

In response to the Negros Oriental attack, the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region formed Special Investigation Task Group (SITG Carpenter) to lead the investigation.

Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage, interviewing witnesses, processing forensic evidence, and pursuing all possible leads to identify and arrest the suspects.

Police have not yet established a motive for the attack and said the investigation remains ongoing.

Regional Director PBGen. Romano V. Cardiño assured the public that investigators have been ordered to exhaust all legal means to bring the perpetrators to justice and urged anyone with information to contact the Sibulan Municipal Police Station.
