American Fugitive Wanted in Massachusetts Arrested in Davao City

An American fugitive wanted in Massachusetts on assault charges has been arrested by Philippine authorities at a condominium unit in Davao City.

James Charles Davis, 53, was taken into custody on August 5 at the Inspiria Condominium along J.P. Laurel Street following a coordinated operation involving the Philippine Navy’s Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao and the Bureau of Immigration Fugitive Search Unit.

Authorities said Davis is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Newburyport District Court of the Massachusetts Trial Court in the United States.

He is wanted on two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault under Massachusetts law.

Immigration records reportedly show that Davis entered the Philippines on March 4, 2026, about five months before his arrest.

Following the operation, Davis was turned over to the Bureau of Immigration Fugitive Search Unit for custody and processing.

He is expected to undergo immigration and deportation proceedings that could lead to his return to the United States, where he would face the pending charges in Massachusetts.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed detailed information about the alleged assaults, including the identity of the alleged victims, the weapon reportedly involved, or the circumstances surrounding the cases.

The charges against Davis remain allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
