NEW YORK —A 7-month-old baby girl has died after being shot in a brazen daytime attack in Brooklyn on Wednesday, prompting an urgent manhunt for two suspects who fled on a moped, according to police.

The shooting happened at around 1:21 p.m. at the intersection of Moore Street and Humboldt Street. Authorities said two unidentified individuals riding a moped approached the area when the passenger at the rear pulled out a firearm and opened fire multiple times.

The infant was struck during the gunfire and later succumbed to her injuries, police said.

Investigators say the suspects immediately fled the scene on the moped. No arrests have been made, and the motive remains under investigation.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern, with authorities condemning the violence that claimed the life of an innocent child in broad daylight.

The New York Police Department is now calling on the public for assistance in identifying and locating the suspects.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted online at the Crime Stoppers website or via X @NYPDTips.

All calls will be kept confidential.
